Clinica Mijas

I have never had a doctor appointment like this in my life. I called up to check if they have an appointment for my persistent cough/fever as I was starting to suspect pneumonia, and spoke to Doctor Jaber himself. He said just to come by, he was open. Upon arrival he tells me he is schizophrenic, so not to worry if he speaks to himself. At this point I am thinking the whole place is completely crazy. What followed was a thorough and long consultation (maybe 20-25mins). Indeed, the doctor does speak to himself in Spanish, but also he speaks to the patient to ask about symptoms. He had out the whole suitcase of instruments to investigate different parts of my throat and chest/breathing. At one point he insisted I must be a smoker - time and time again - although I repeated I have never smoked in my life. I was feeling pretty uncomfortable with this accusation as it just added to the weirdness that far. In the end, he had a clear diagnosis for me. Bacterial bronchitis, which would require a strong antibiotic for 7 days. I knew bronchitis is only bacterial in 5% of cases, and I am not a fan of antibiotics and argued if I could have something else, or a weaker one, but he insisted I must take the one he will prescribe as I was very sick. I had to agree I was indeed feeling very sick and had been getting worse every day for 10 days, so I thought I had better go with what he says. I was also given a cough inducing medicine to loosen phlegm. Incredibly, the antibiotics did clear the infection in exactly 7 days and the cough inducing mixture did also work well in conjunction with the antibiotics. I am not confident many other doctors would have got this so spot on as the diagnosis was low probability and must have taken some skill to arrive at. It certainly took time and it was clear in his mind he was ruling out perhaps more likely conditions as he was gathering info in the consultation. Meanwhile in the waiting room, my husband was getting bored and had struck up conversation with another patient who told him this Dr had diagnosed a condition in one visit that it took specialists in London several months and multiple visits to ascertain. He thought this doctor is the best you can find anywhere. But from another local, we heard that this doctor is not great for diagnosing psychological conditions, which may be why he doesn't have a clean 5* rating. Certainly, based on my experience, I would go again to Dr Jaber. I am writing this to put people at ease that may find the initial announcement of schizophrenia quite alarming like I did, because the doctor is in the end very thorough. Please note the place only took cash when I was there. My appointment was EUR70.

Dr. Jaber is a lovely kind man. We were on holidays from Ireland and our daughter became sick. He made our little girl feel very comfortable and he was very helpful. He clearly explained her diagnosis and what needed to be done. The receptionist was also very nice and helpful. Highly recommended.

Dr Jaber is an excellent physician who saw us quickly and rapidly diagnosed my daughter while on holiday. He has a great sense of humour and put us at ease.

so stellt man sich einen Arzt vor sehr humorvoll und trotzdem unheimlich präzise in seiner Untersuchung, Diagnostik und Verschreibung. und man hat in keinem Moment den Eindruck, dass es ihm nur ums Geld geht. Man kann nicht mehr sagen als: fantastisch.

Very odd experience. Doctor speaks to himself while diagnosing. Didn’t comfort our 3 year old at all. We’ll never return here.

Dr Jaber was excellent!! Very pleasant , very good English and no waiting about! I would highly recommend him.
